How to Play 3D Shapes Slap It!
- Set Up: Place CENTER cards face down in a pile. Deal PLAYING cards evenly to each player (face down).
- Start the Round: Flip over the top CENTER card.
- Take Turns: In clockwise order, each player flips a PLAYING card onto the pile.
- Slap It: If a match appears, players race to "slap" the correct card!
- Collect the Pile: The first player to slap it gets the pile of PLAYING cards.
- Keep Going: Play continues with a new CENTER card until time runs out or one player has all the cards.
Game can be played with 2–4 players.
Adapt or Differentiate:
Make the 3D shapes card game work for learners at every level:
- Use 2 card types only to simplify gameplay. Start with shape name and image, then add definitions later.
- Use definition cards as the CENTER pile for reading and comprehension practice.
- Use matching sets for Memory or Go Fish if students need a slower-paced version.
- Choose the format that’s most difficult for your students as the CENTER deck to build familiarity and confidence.
You can also print one version of the image cards with a different background to easily distinguish CENTER from PLAYING decks.
The 3D Shapes Card Game is Perfect for:
- Math centers and partner games
- Whole-class geometry review stations
- RTI or targeted small group support
- ESL/ELL vocabulary reinforcement
