Additional Ways to Play

Ornament Hunt with Clip Cards

Hide the counting and color clip cards around the classroom like ornaments. Give each student a clothespin or mini candy cane marker. As they find each card, they clip the answer before moving to the next. This turns simple counting practice into an active holiday scavenger hunt.

Pattern Train Challenge

Lay out the AB pattern cards and have students build a “holiday train” by extending the patterns across the table or floor. For an added challenge, let them invent their own ornament or light patterns and challenge a classmate to continue it.

Holiday Write the Room Adventure

Scatter the Christmas vocabulary posters around the classroom. Give students a clipboard and printable. As they walk around, they trace, write, or draw what they see on their page. This keeps them moving while reinforcing literacy skills.

BINGO with a Twist

Instead of pulling number cards, play “Find It BINGO.” Place the BINGO boards in a center and let students draw from a stack of picture cards (like gifts, candy canes, or ornaments). When they find a match on their board, they cover it with a mini eraser.

Santa’s Workshop Sorting

Give students the shape, color, or number sorting mats and a pile of cards. Challenge them to “help Santa’s elves” by sorting toys into the right bins as fast as they can. Time them for an extra boost of excitement, or let them sort in pairs for teamwork practice.
