I Spy "Flip" Board Game: Real Life Photos Farm
There is something so engaging about an I Spy game with real farm photos. Kids are not just matching random pictures. They are looking closely at animals, tools, equipment, buildings, and farm objects they may recognize from books, farm units, field trips, or real life.
Each round gives students a reason to slow down and really look. Is it the chick or the duckling? The goat or the lamb? The tractor or the combine? That careful comparing is where the learning happens.
Students practice farm vocabulary while building visual scanning, visual discrimination, item recognition, and attention to detail. The game feels playful, but the skill practice is strong.
Use it during your farm theme, animal unit, literacy centers, speech therapy sessions, OT activities, ELL vocabulary practice, or homeschool lessons.
How to Use This Real Life Farm I Spy Board Game
Step 1: Choose a Game Board
Place one farm I Spy game board in the center of the table. Choose one board for partner play, small groups, therapy sessions, or independent visual scanning practice.
Step 2: Flip the Picture Cards
Give each player a small stack of farm image cards face down. Players flip over the top card and look carefully at the real-life photo.
Step 3: Find the Matching Image
Students scan the board to find the matching farm picture. The first player to point to or touch the correct image wins a token for that round. Keep playing until the cards have been matched, then count the tokens.
For a calmer version, skip the race. Let students take turns finding one card at a time. This works well for younger preschoolers, mixed-ability groups, speech therapy, OT sessions, ELL support, and students who need extra processing time.
This printable farm I Spy activity is a great fit for:
