Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and TEKS

- Print the black and white pages or laminate the color pages.
- Kids find the focus letter at the top.
- Kids color each space with that letter blue.
- Kids color the other spaces red.
- Kids name the big letter they made.
Morning Work: Use the page for the letter of the week.

Easy Ways to Differentiate These Color by Letter Pages
Every group has a mix of skills and needs. These simple changes keep the activity familiar while meeting each child where they are.
For Children Who Need More Support:
- Highlight one focus letter as an example.
- Point to each space and ask “Is this the letter?”
- Color only the focus letter.
- Use a dot marker.
For On-Level Practice:
- Color the whole page with both colors.
- Name the focus letter each time it is found.
- Count how many times the letter appears.
- Do one page each day.
For an Extra Challenge:
- Name every other letter on the page.
- Write the lowercase letter next to the big letter.
- Say a word that starts with the letter.
- Time the page.
For Speech, OT, ELL or Special Education Support:
- Show each step and give plenty of wait time.
- Accept pointing, gestures, AAC or any communication method the child already uses.
- Work on a few letters at a time and repeat them across several days.
- Say the letter name and sound together every time.
