Standards for Number Sense
These activities support early math standards connected to recognizing numerals and matching numbers to quantities.
Common Core State Standards
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality. Kids count each picture to see if it matches the number.
- CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.A.3: Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20. Kids match each set to its numeral.
Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines
- PK4.V.A.5: Child recognizes numerals 0-10. Kids name the number on each page.
- PK4.V.A.2: Child counts up to 10 objects with one-to-one correspondence. Kids touch and count the objects in each picture.
Virginia Mathematics Standards of Learning
- K.NS.2.a: Read, write and identify the numerals 0 through 30. Kids identify the number on each page.
- K.NS.1.a: Use one-to-one correspondence to determine how many are in a given set. Kids count each set one object at a time.
Digital and Printable Number Identification Back to School gives preschool and kindergarten kids practice recognizing numbers 1-10 and matching them to pictures.
Each page shows one number in the middle with a ring of pictures around it. Kids find the pictures that show that number and mark each one with a thumbs up or thumbs down.
The pictures show each number in different ways, so kids practice counting objects, reading numerals and spotting ten frames.
