Standards for Early Math and Colors

This pack supports early learning standards connected to counting, colors, matching and patterns.

Common Core State Standards

  • CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality. Kids count the fruits and clip the number.
  • CCSS.MATH.PRACTICE.MP7: Look for and make use of structure. Kids find what repeats in each pattern.

Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines

  • PK4.V.A.2: Child counts up to 10 objects with one-to-one correspondence. Kids count the pictures on each card.
  • PK4.V.E.3: Child recognizes, duplicates, extends and creates patterns. Kids continue each fruit and vegetable pattern.
  • PK4.V.E.1: Child sorts objects that are the same and different into groups and uses language to describe how the groups are similar and different. Kids match fruits and vegetables by color.

Virginia Standards of Learning

  • Math K.NS.1.a: Use one-to-one correspondence to determine how many are in a given set. Kids count each set.
  • Math K.PFA.1.b: Extend a repeating pattern by adding at least two complete repetitions of the core to the pattern. Kids keep each pattern going.

Pre-K Pack: Fruit and Vegetable gives preschool and kindergarten kids six hands-on activities for colors, counting and patterns.

Kids clip colors and numbers, play spin and cover, find matching pairs, put together 3-piece number puzzles and build patterns with fruits and vegetables.

Use the pack during a food or healthy eating unit, or set out one activity at a time in centers.
