Standards for Sight Words
These digital activities support kindergarten reading standards connected to sight words and high-frequency words.
Common Core State Standards
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3.C: Read common high-frequency words by sight. Kids read and find a new sight word on each page.
TEKS for English Language Arts and Reading
- TEKS ELAR K.2(B)(iv): Identify and read at least 25 high-frequency words from a research-based list. Kids read and find the Dolch sight words.
Virginia English Standards of Learning
- K.FFR.3.H: Use letter-sound correspondences to read grade-level high-frequency words, including decodable and irregular words. Kids read each sight word and find it in the grid.
Digital Sight Words I Spy: Kindergarten gives kindergarten kids a fun way to practice reading Dolch sight words on Google Slides or Seesaw.
On every slide, kids read the sight word, type it and then drag play dough dots to cover the word each time they spot it in the grid.
There is no prep or printing, so the slides work well for centers, morning work, homework and distance learning.
